no help from Google/Nik, okay well they were somewhat helpful in trying to suggest that it was a calibration problem of the monitors, only partially correct. I've got an introduction at (See "Colour Management Cheat Sheet"), which has lots of references to useful information in it.īut to cut it short: you need correct monitor profiles for both your monitors, and standard colour space profiles such as Adobe RGB are unlikely to be the correct ones, though they may be better than what you had before.įixed it. What you've said suggests that Nik (and I) were right, that this is a colour management (monitor calibration) issue. If I may say so, your language suggests you may not fully understand colour management.

When two windows on a single monitor are off it's a issue with Nik's preprocessing, not a color calibration issue. My comparisons were and have been all on a single monitor. The color calibration really makes a difference between screen and print, or screen and screen. The main problem was Nik was profiling my Auxiliary monitor (Acer), had it profiled the U3011 I would have noticed no difference. Since LR / PS / OnOne adjusted the colors, they now match the Nik profiled window. If I dragged all the windows over to the Acer monitor, LR / PS / OnOne detect that the monitor changed and adjust the colors appropriately while Nik keeps it the same. Since Nik had profiled the picutre using that monitor's profile for whatever reason, when displayed on my U3011 (with the profiled colors for the other monitor), there was a color shift. This led me to believe that Nik was trying to correct the color space based on a monitor's profile of my 2nd monitor, an Acer something or rather.

What was odd was OnOne plugins were the same color, so comparing the 3 windows, LR / PS and OnOne had the same color, Nik had a different color. If it was just the monitor's calibration I would not be able to capture the difference in a screen grab from my U3011 and post it in the first post.

So it's not the individual's monitor calibration as Google was trying to explain to me. Hope that helps anyone who has this problem as it otherwise made my editing in Nik almost useless, now it good to go again! Nik needs to correct this bug by colorspacing its window to the active window's monitor profile and can't assume a system only has one monitor and arbitrarily grab one, or at least make this a selectable option. These are all screen caps on the SAME monitor, so the color accuracy (to print) is moot since the comparison is always on the same device. Note that all the plugins (OnOne on the bottom, LR and Nik on the right) are now color synced? This is after I changed all my monitor profiles to the same (Adobe RGB, but I could have defaulted the Acer monitor to the Dell U3011 profile, so long as both monitor profiles are the same): Here's a threeway comparison of what I was experiencing, note the similar coloring with LR and OnOne, but not Nik:
